“We are going to blow it out of the division” – Charlton owner Sandgaard totally confident of promotion

Thomas Sandgaard is confident that Charlton are going to power out of League One next season.

The Addicks missed out on the play-offs on goal difference to Oxford United and lost just once in their final 15 matches.

The US-based Danish businessman, who acquired the club in September, told Charlton TV’s end-of-season show tonight: “Considering where we started the season and where we ended, we were so close to the play-offs.

“Obviously gutted we didn’t get there. But it basically shows that next season we are going to blow it out of this division. I’m very excited for that.”

Nigel Adkins won five and drew four of his 10 matches in charge after succeeding Lee Bowyer.

“We looked at a lot of data – you wouldn’t believe how much date goes into analysing football,” said Sandgaard. “With the playing style and the little things he naturally gravitates towards, basically it is the kind of football that would get us promoted out of the League One.

“That, it itself, is very positive. He has had a tremendous impact on the atmosphere with the team and internally at the club. I couldn’t have got a better guy.”
