Welling United rediscover scoring touch as they hit five at Park View Road

After two consecutive blanks, Welling United responded with five goals against Truro City yet still struggled to put the game to bed.
Some of their first-half football was breathtaking and the game should have been over at 5-1 – but they lost their way, especially after some enforced substitutions, and they could have had a very nervy finish had Truro not missed the chance to reduce the deficit to one with time still remaining.
As a result of consecutive 1-0 defeats, Wings manager Steve King selected all three of his main strikers, with Danny Mills and Matt Paterson combining up front and Bradley Goldberg playing in the space behind. He was rewarded by goals from all three of them.
John Paul Kissock, still suffering the after-effects of flu, went down in the penalty area after 16 minutes and Goldberg converted the spot-kick despite Harvey Rivers going the right way.
Paterson gave Goldberg another chance to shoot but a slight deflection was just enough for it to hit the post rather than going in just inside it.
Dan Rooney lobbed wide for Truro before Welling should have been awarded a second penalty when Mills was tugged to the ground.
Welling scored two in three minutes to put them in command. First Craig Braham-Barrett produced an excellent solo goal with a long run and clinical finish.Â
Millwall loanee Danny McNamara put over an excellent cross, Mills got up and headed against the bar, and Paterson was first to the rebound to fire home.
Less than a minute of the second half had passed when Welling added a fourth as Mills slotted home.
But then a lapse of concentration allowed Truro back into the game, Tyler Harvey firing across Dan Wilks.
Julien Anau’s pace left Truro defenders trailing before his cross picked out Mills to score again.
Harvey scored again from close range with 20 minutes remaining.
