‘We’re growing with League Two’ – Bromley boss Andy Woodman assesses point in draw with Milton Keynes

Bromley boss Andy Woodman feels his side are growing into League Two after their 1-1 draw with Milton Keynes on Saturday.

The Buckinghamshire-based side – in their first game under new manager Scott Lindsey – took the lead after eight minutes when Joe Tomlinson scored Tommy Leigh’s cross along the face of goal.

Woodman’s side equalised 15 minutes later when Corey Whitely played Michael Cheek through in his own half and the Bromley striker finished beyond keeper Tom McGill.

The Ravens ended a run of two defeats in the league but are six games without a win.

“We couldn’t have started any worse,” Woodman told Bromley’s YouTube channel.

“We made mistake after mistake after mistake – we looked a little bit off it.

“We gifted them a goal, but after that, I thought we showed a bit of character.

“They’ve got the bounce of a new manager.

“Let’s be honest, they have got some good players in their team.

“But we battled away and we have to keep growing with the league.

“We are growing with the league. We have to try to get that win now.”

Cheek’s finish in the 23rd minute was his fifth League Two goal of the season.

“That’s the real positive,” said Woodman.

“The actual move was us to a tee.

“Everything about that goal was us. The finish from Cheeky was fantastic. The pass [from Corey] was fantastic.

“I thought we would grow from that. We did to a degree, but we started the second half a little bit on the back foot – we weren’t where we should have been.

“We have to make sure we start a little better in games – in both halves.

“Today we didn’t – it becomes a long half in periods.

“I felt that today.”
