Where in South London will the new Superloop bus service stop?

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced new plans for a network of limited-stop express bus routes that circle the entire capital – connecting outer London town centres, railway stations, hospitals and transport hubs.

City Hall said the Superloop would provide quicker journey times, and Mr Khan has provided £6million funding to make improvements to outer London orbital bus services.

The Superloop will see express bus services between Bexleyheath and Croydon, with another express service between Croydon and Heathrow airport.

Stops in the Bexleyheath and Croydon route will include Sidcup railway station, Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup and Bromley railway station.

A quick link between Croydon railway station and Russell Square Tube station has also been proposed, as well as one between Canary Wharf and Grove Park.

The new service is proposed to be introduced in stages, with some routes that would become part of the Superloop now in operation

This includes the X26 connecting Heathrow and West Croydon. The X26 will double in frequency so that buses run every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes.

TfL is working with the relevant boroughs on initial proposals for this next section and will consult on the route in the coming months.

Views from the public will be sought on future sections of the orbital network.

The Superloop brand will also feature on maps, timetables and other pieces of customer information.

Ben Curtis, from the Campaign for Better Transport group, said: “This is another welcome step from Transport for London to expand the availability of public transport in outer London.

“Millions across the capital use the bus every day, and we are delighted that thousands more will now benefit from a joined-up public transport network thanks to the introduction of Superloop services.”
