Spotlight on Health: Here comes the MoonWalk 2022
A health charity has announced that its annual fundraising walk will be back in South London next year – in person for the first time since 2019. Walk the Walk’s flagship event, MoonWalk, will be held on Clapham Common on May 14, 2022.
The theme of the walk will be ‘your hero’ with men and women completing the walk wearing brightly coloured decorative bras, raising money for and awareness of breast cancer research.
Nina Barough, founder and chief executive of Walk the Walk, said: “I cannot express just how exciting it is for Walk the Walk to finally be launching the MoonWalk London 2022, our first live fundraising experience in more than two years.”
The MoonWalk London will start at midnight at MoonWalk City, Clapham Common, and participants have the option of a 15.1-mile or 26.2 mile walk.
The event is offering a virtual daytime option, alongside the in-person event.
Ms Barough added: “This means that everyone has a choice, but together thousands of people across the UK and indeed the world will be uniting to raise money and awareness for those with breast and other cancers.
“This is a MoonWalking weekend extravaganza not to be missed.

Walk the Walk is a grant-making health charity, specialising in promoting the benefits of walking as an important part of cancer prevention, as well as for overall mental health and physical well-being.
The organisation raises funds by creating and organising a variety of walking and trekking challenges across the world.
Walk the Walk has raised more than £134 million since it walked its first challenge in 1996.
The funds raised are granted to charities and organisations across the UK where it can achieve the most good, as well as funding Walk the Walk’s own projects.
At this time funds are granted to research into secondary cancers and to also support front line services and the impact that Covid-19 has had on those living with cancer.
