Patrick Vieira responds to video which shows him involved in altercation with an Everton pitch invader

Patrick Vieira decided not to comment after footage appeared following the 3-2 loss at Goodison Park that showed the Crystal Palace boss involved in an altercation with an Everton fan who had invaded the pitch.

Palace threw away a two-goal lead and conceded three second-half goals as Everton claimed all three points with a dramatic comeback.

The Eagles’ goals came through Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew, but Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for Frank Lampard’s side to spark wild scenes on Merseyside.

The footage, which was shown on Sky Sports, showed that the Frenchman was provoked by an Everton fan as he made his way to the away team dressing room following full time.

The full time whilst saw Everton fans flood onto the pitch, while play had to be halted following Calvert-Lewin’s goal after a handful of fans invaded the pitch.

When asked about the incident after the game, Vieira said: “I do not have anything to say about that.”

Everton manager Frank Lampard was also asked about the incident post-match. He said: “I feel for Patrick. I didn’t get him at the end, but I wanted him to come in with us.

“I know how managers feel. Of course, he’s running 80 yards across the pitch, which is tough.”

The comeback secured Everton’s Premier League status for next season, while Palace can no longer break their record points total of 49.

The Eagles play Manchester United on Sunday at Selhurst Park.
