Dean Holden fully aware of Posh’s quality performers as he takes Charlton to his former club

Dean Holden is looking forward to facing his former club Peterborough United on Saturday, with the Charlton manager fully aware of the quality they have within their ranks.

Darren Ferguson (pictured) has returned for a fourth managerial spell at Posh and kicked off with a 2-0 victory at Port Vale on Monday night.

Holden played for Peterborough for a couple of years and had a good luck message from their director of football Barry Fry after being appointed by the Addicks last month.

Charlton are four points behind their weekend opponents but have played two matches more.

“I watched them on Monday night,” Holden told the South London Press. “He [Ferguson] has gone back to a back four again. Because of it being a Sky game he has had a week to work with the players. It looks like he has simplified it a bit for them.

“They’ve got some good players – like [Kwame] Poku, he is one you’ve got to stop. I like Jonson Clarke-Harris. He wasn’t really involved in the first half of the game and within 10 minutes of the second half he had set the [first] goal up and had a header just wide.

“Jack Taylor has been touted for a bigger move and I can see why. As has Ronnie Edwards, the centre-back.

“They have got some quality and that’s without touching on [Ephron] Mason-Clark, who got their two goals.

“It’s going to be a tough game for us but we go there with confidence, and rightly so.”
