Guyana international midfielder signs for Dulwich Hamlet

Dulwich Hamlet have signed Guyana international Anthony Jeffrey.

The 28-year-old midfielder, formerly on Arsenal’s books as a youngster, played for Billericay last season.

Jeffrey has been capped seven times.

“Anthony actually approached me about coming and wanted to be part of the rebuilding and be part of the cultural change that we are instilling in the dressing room,” Hamlet boss Hakan Hayrettin told the club’s website.

“He wants to be at a football club that he feels can achieve things, and once we spoke about the direction we wanted to take Dulwich, he felt it was no-brainer to sign.

“He has incredible pace, we’ve got to keep him fit and on his toes and I am sure he will do very well for the club.”

Jeffrey said: “Hak and Terry are winners, and so am I, so it was as simple as that when we spoke. I’m done with just floating around in my career, now is the time to win a title, and I want winning to be the only thing on the table this year.

“It’s a club that I’ve looked at for a long time, and one that shouldn’t be in the Isthmian Premier. The club has a fanbase that I’ve admired for a long time, and it’s a place I’ve always thought I would always enjoy playing at and I am grateful for the opportunity.”
