Johnnie Jackson: Stockport recalling Lemonheigh-Evans was a big dent for AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson says it left a big dent in his side when Stockport recalled loanee Connor Lemonheigh-Evans in the January window.

The 27-year-old joined the Dons during the summer window on deadline day and became an important figure in Jackson’s side, recording five goal contributions in 17 outings.

Stockport recalled the former Torquay playmaker in the January window, with the Dons shelling out a six-figure fee to stop fellow loanee Joe Lewis from heading back too.

Lemonheigh-Evans has featured 11 times for top of the table Stockport since returning and has recorded four goals and two assists.

The Dons head to Stockport tomorrow [Monday] looking to stay in the chasing pack for a spot in the top seven.

“I love Connor – he was great for us,” Jackson told the South London Press.

“He did really well. We won’t be showing him too much love.

“He’s gone back there, got in their team, and has been playing well.

“They recognised what he was doing here and decided to call him back as the parent club – it’s their prerogative.

“It was a big dent in what we were doing and he has shown how good he is by going back to a team who are top of the league and playing really well.

“He’s the enemy on Monday, but it will be good to see him. He’s a great lad and he gave everything while he was here.”
