Ark Globe Academy, preparing students for high quality teaching

Ark Globe is an academy for four to 18-year-olds in Elephant and Castle, Southwark.

The academy has set its mission to prepare students for university and to be leaders in their community.

It offers students a first-class education based on high quality teaching and enriching experiences outside of the classroom.

Ark Globe is proud of the achievements and progress of its young people.

Our sixth form is the top local provider in Southwark and within the top 2 per cent nationally.

The academy put a great emphasis on mental and physical well-being, in addition to its dedicated academic and enrichment programmes.

Having launched a prestigious partnership with Fulham FC and successfully continued the Elite Player Programme last year, the academy raised its ambitions by maintaining outstanding facilities such as a long jump pit and 3G pitch.

In the past year, Ark Globe students have achieved excellent results in basketball, football and table tennis, and our boys’ athletics team is ranked fifth in the country.

In the summer 2022 term, the academy introduced tennis as a new sport to its students and organised a tennis festival for the local primary schools.

In January, the whole Ark Globe community celebrated some fantastic news.

Executive Principal, Mr Jones, has been awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his services to education.

Associate Principal, Ms Sookun, said:

Having been born and raised in London, facing some of the challenges our young people face today, Mr Jones benefited from opportunities, in the classroom and on the sports field, that changed the direction of his life.

“His own background and educational experience have contributed to a commitment to ensure opportunities are not a result of privilege or determined by chance.

“The OBE shines a light on the incredible work being done in schools and communities like ours.

“It sets a standard for others to follow, and we look forward to Mr Jones receiving the award on behalf of the community we serve.

Ark Globe has set its purpose to promote social justice and a fairer society where everyone will have equal opportunities to determine their own future and puts this aim at the top of its work every day.

The academy will be hosting on-site open events in October 2022.
