Actress and son raise awareness for victims of domestic abuse

Actress Lucy Morgans has starred in an advertising campaign raising awareness for victims of domestic abuse – with her own son, writes Alexandra Warren.

The one minute film shows Lucy, who is best known for her role as the feisty Abbey in Brookside, and her son Arthur Moffat, 6, sitting in a car park all day to avoid returning home.

Lucy, who is also known for her 1999 hit song Happiness Happening, said: “Arthur and I were honoured to be chosen to work on this worthwhile project and to get to act together was such an incredible opportunity and one that I will certainly never forget.

“Arthur is only 6 years old and this was his first film project and he thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

“We spent 7 hours sitting in a car being filmed, something many women and children in these terrible situations have to endure on a regular basis.

The work of Women’s Aid in reaching out to people in this situation is truly amazing.”

Lucy currently runs All the Arts theatre school in Bexley and Bromley and Arthur is a pupil at Benedict House in Sidcup.

The Women’s Aid campaign aims to highlight the effects of lockdown on women and children who are subject to domestic abuse.

The mini-movie was shot by Oscar nominated cinematographer Robbie Ryan and acclaimed director Molly Burdett at a car park in Croydon.
