Dan Brown’s famous professor brings adventure and excitement to Bromley

The first ever stage adaptation of Dan Brown’s best-selling thriller, The Da Vinci Code is coming to Bromley this week.

The show, starring Nigel Harman as Robert Langdon, Danny John-Jules as Sir Leigh Teabing, Hannah Rose Caton as Sophie Neveu and Joshua Lacy as Silas premieres at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from January 10 to 15. 

Mr Harman, who starred in EastEnders and Downton Abbey, said he was excited to be taking on the role of the famous professor.

He said: “He’s quite an iconic figure, the more time I spend with the show.  

“He’s smart and engaged, but he’s not your average leading man, shooting guns or kicking down doors.”

The show is set to follow many twists and turns, as Robert Langdon’s adventure takes him to historical monuments up and down Europe.

Mr Harman said: “It’s a thriller, it’s fast-paced, it’s exciting and you never quite know which way it’s going to go. 

“Also, embedded in it are some incredible questions that need to be answered or investigated ourselves, so it becomes a very personal experience.

“For those who know the story, we cover Paris to England to Scotland in the blink of an eye.  

“The set is going to be really adaptable – you could be in a church one moment and the Louvre the next. 

“We are using projections to see how people’s minds are working – either Sophie Neveu or Robert’s.  At times it will look like it’s in 3D which is very exciting.”

He also recommends anyone over the age of ten will enjoy the play – and coming in a group might help too, adding: “It’s one of those shows you will talk about afterwards.

“I love that kind of theatre. There’s so much information, in the interval you’ll have to regroup and go – this happened, that happened – and that’s a really exciting thing.”
