Southwark theatre donates toy penguins to child refugees to celebrate kids online winter show
A theatre has donated penguin toys to child refugees to celebrate the launch of their online winter theatre show for children.
Together with Filskit Theatre, Unicorn Theatre in Southwark has released Huddle – a 10-minute theatrical piece for two to five year olds about a father penguin and his chick.
The story tells of a penguin who receives an egg by parachute – and the troubles he and his chick must overcome after she hatches.
With help from Bloomberg Philanthropies, the theatre also gave 60 penguin and baby soft toys to children receiving support from Refugee Council.
Refugee Council provides support and advice to refugees and asylum seekers and organisations which support them – and are the only national service offering support to all unaccompanied refugee children who arrive in the UK.
It is part of the theatre’s programme of online drama experiences which they have provided free of charge during the pandemic.
Huddle is available to watch free on YouTube until February 13.
