The Pirates of Penzance is the comedy musical coming to the Albany this month

Featuring soft-hearted buccaneers, hard-nosed damsels and a lily-livered police force.

They may not be terribly successful, but Cornwall’s best-behaved pirates have impeccable manners: they think it’s unsporting to attack anyone weaker than themselves, and their first thought upon capturing a group of beautiful young ladies is to propose marriage en masse. But when they discover they’ve been tricked into letting their captives go free, they plan a grisly revenge. Can the cream of Cornish constabulary defeat them? Will true love triumph? And what is the pirates’ guilty secret?

Gilbert and Sullivan’s masterpiece combines inspired silliness with much-loved songs including – all presented with a live orchestra and bucketloads of brio by the Centenary Company. It’s on from Wednesday, November 21 to Saturday, November 24, 7.30pm nightly, plus 2.30pm Saturday matinee.
