Dog attack leaves woman in ‘critical condition’ as she is airlifted to hospital

A woman has been left in a “critical condition” after a dog attack which saw her airlifted to a major trauma unit.

The woman was attacked by the dog at around 9am this morning inside an address in Bedwell Road, Belvedere.

The Met said the dog received injuries during the attack and a Taser stun gun was used by officers who managed to get it into a separate room. The force confirmed the dog has since died but did not say what the cause of death was.

A man also received “minor injuries” and was taken to hospital, according to the Met.

A spokesman for the Met said: “Officers, London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene – a woman, no further details – was taken to hospital for treatment; she remains there in a critical condition.

“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

An LAS spokesman said: “We were called at 8.57am today to reports of an incident on Bedwell Road, Belvedere.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and members of our tactical response unit. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated two patients at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
