Doing their bit to spruce up Bromley’s oft-neglected green spaces

A team from the Prince’s Trust took part in a programme called the Three-in-One Community Project to carry out important work around Bromley.

Their ambitious project encompassed three distinct endeavours, each aimed at enhancing the local environment and fostering community engagement.

The first part of the ‘Team Blessed’ project involved a clean-up of Poverest Park and Covet Wood – much-loved community spaces off Footbury Hill Road, Orpington, in need of some tender loving care.

Their efforts not only helped to improve the surroundings but also instilled a sense of pride and ownership among local residents.

Next, the team collaborated with the Badger Trust to create an engaging badger game, designed to raise awareness about wildlife conservation.

By combining fun and education, they sought to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards and advocates for wildlife protection.

In another exciting initiative, the team helped to support Superzones Activity Week – Bromley council youth programmes featuring street art and arts and crafts activities that captivated participants of all ages.

The team also organised a raffle to raise funds and support their community projects, demonstrating their resourcefulness and commitment to sustainable initiatives.

The final achievement of their project was helping to restore Priory Gardens Community Kitchen Garden at Church Hill, Orpington.

Overcoming the challenge of an overgrown garden, the team cleared the space with care and attention before planting seeds and painting plant boxes.

They added a vibrant kitchen garden street art sign, serving as a beacon to encourage local involvement and volunteering.

Princes Trust team leader Sheromie Brewster said: “Through their determined efforts and collaborative spirit, Team Blessed has not only transformed physical spaces but also nurtured a sense of community pride and unity.

“Their multifaceted project stands as a testament to the power of teamwork, creativity, and a shared vision for a brighter, more connected community.
