Man in 20s charged with the murder of a 74-year-old man in New Cross

A man has been charged with the murder of of a 74-year-old man in New Cross.

Jack Forde, 23, of Wild Goose Drive, appeared in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with murder.

Just before 6pm on Friday, a man, who was known to Mr Forde, was found dead at the address on Wild Goose Drive.

A post-mortem examination held on Saturday gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, chest and abdomen.

Officers are awaiting formal identification and confirmation that all family members have been informed.

Detective Inspector Steven Keogh, investigating from Specialist Crime South, said: “At this very early stage we retain an open mind as to the circumstance surrounding this death, but, I can confirm that we are not seeking any other persons in connection with this isolated incident which involved one victim.”
