Mehak Sharma killing: Man charged with 19-year-old’s murder is her husband

The Met has confirmed the man charged with the murder of 19-year-old Mehak Sharma is her husband.

The force announced last night they had charged Sahil Sharma, 23, of Ash Tree Way, Croydon, who is due to appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today.

A Met spokesman confirmed to the South London Press that Sahil Sharma is the husband of Mehak Sharma.

Police and paramedics were called to a property in Ash Tree Way at around 4.10pm on Sunday.

The Met said Mrs Sharma – an Indian national who had recently arrived in the UK – was found with stab wounds and died at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination is set to take place today.

A spokesman for the Met said: “Anyone with information that may assist the investigation, including anyone who saw or heard a disturbance on Sunday afternoon at the address in Ash Tree Way, is asked to call police.
