Morden nursery gets upbeat appraisal from watchdog

A Morden nursery where ‘children develop close bonds with the staff and demonstrate they feel safe and secure’ has received a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted.

Busy Bees Morden, in Martin Way, received praise for making significant improvements since the last inspection, including ‘raising the quality of care in the nursery’, and ensuring children ‘are safe and well-supported’.

Staff were commended for being ‘positive role models for children’ providing children with ‘clear explanations to support children’s understanding of positive behaviour’.

It was also noted that the new manager and staff provide a ‘warm and welcoming environment’ and support ‘children’s emotional needs effectively’.

Children’s development was given a special mention with the inspector noting that ‘children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning’, displaying ‘positive attitudes towards learning’.

Good play time activities and help with language skills were also cited as positives.

Centre director Miriam Zeroukhi said: “We are over the moon. Following our inspection last year, the team has worked so hard to ensure our centre provides the highest quality of care and learning opportunities for our children.

“It’s thanks to their dedication and unwavering support that we are celebrating our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating. We are looking forward to continuing to build on the solid foundation of quality we have in place, ensuring we can continue to provide every child with the best start in life.”

The report also noted the nursery’s focus on special educational needs and/or disabilities and its work to ensure ‘all children get the support they need and gaps in learning are addressed’
