Two adults and a child taken to hospital after house fire

Two adults and child were rushed to hospital after a house fire.

Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters were called to a house fire in Alderwood Road, Eltham this morning.

Half the ground floor and most of the first floor of a mid-terraced house were damaged by fire. The roof of the building was destroyed.

A man and a child left the building before the London Fire Brigade arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman via an internal staircase. They were all taken to hospital.

The brigade was called at around 4.40am and the fire was under control at around 6am.

Fire crews from Eltham, Sidcup, Lee Green, Bexley and Plumstead stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
