Woman stabbed to death on Christmas Eve named as 16-year-old boy charged with murder

A woman who was stabbed to death on Christmas Eve has been named for the first time, while a teenager has been charged with her murder.

A 16-year-old boy is due to appear in custody this morning at Croydon Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of 22-year-old Kacey Clarke, who was stabbed to death in a residential property in Spenlow House, Jamaica Road, Bermondsey.

The Met said they were called at around 10pm on Sunday to reports of a woman with a stab injury. Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

They provided emergency first aid to Ms Clarke but she sadly died at the scene. A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as a single sharp force trauma to the chest.

The 16-year-old boy, who the Met confirmed was known to the victim, was arrested nearby a short time later on suspicion of murder.

A spokesman from the Met said: “[The victim’s] family are aware and continue to be supported by specially trained officers. They have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.

“Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

“Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 5855/24Dec. Information can also be shared online.

“You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
