Ayoub Assal tests positive for Covid-19 – AFC Wimbledon attacker to miss Oxford United match
AFC Wimbledon assistant manager Rob Tuvey has revealed that Ayoub Assal has tested positive for Covid-19 and will not feature in their trip to Oxford United tomorrow evening.
Ollie Palmer is back in contention to feature at the Kassam Stadium after recovering from injury.
The Dons will play for the first time since December 11, with their last two fixtures against Portsmouth and Charlton both postponed.
“Unfortunately Ayoub will be missing from the game tomorrow night,” Tuvey told Wimbledon’s official website.
“He’s actually tested positive [for Covid-19] which is a shame. What we’ve worked a lot on in the last 18 days is our formation flexibility.
“We’ve shown that throughout the season, we’ve shown that we can play different shapes, and within games we can change shape to cause teams problems.
“Ollie will be back. Ollie will be in contention. He trained today, which is really good.”
