Crystal Palace exploring early recall for loanee League One defender

Crystal Palace are exploring the option of recalling Sean Grehan from his loan spell at League One side Carlisle United.

The 20-year-old joined the Cumbrians in the January window on a six-month deal until the end of the season but has featured just three times for Paul Simpson’s side.

Grehan’s appearances have all come from the bench and he has racked up just 38 minutes of football.

He signed a new three-year deal with the Eagles before heading out on loan in his first senior EFL spell away from Selhurst Park.

The Ireland U21 international was named in the matchday squad for Roy Hodgson’s first team earlier in the season for their 4-2 EFL Cup win over Plymouth.

Carlisle are all but set to be relegated from League One. They are bottom of the table and 13 points from safety, with five games remaining of the season.
