Crystal Palace Netball Club’s under-16s on track to reach national finals

Crystal Palace Netball Club’s under-16s are on course to reach the national finals after a blistering start to the campaign.

The team won all five matches to qualify for the Regional League last September and are unbeaten at the top of the table after eight games.

The Regional League is made up of eight teams across London and the South-East. They meet once a month in double-header fixtures.

Palace will go on to represent the region at the national finals at Nottingham University should they remain in the top two. They have an eight-point lead over second-place Telstars and are 11 points above third-place Grasshoppers.

Last weekend they 28-16 against Manor and defeated Essex Open 32-16.

Head coach Sharron Lewis-Burke – who played for the club between 2003 and 2009 – said: “They are a determined group of girls who have played some impressive netball against tough opposition over the past few months.

“We have some challenging games coming up but I’m confident, if they continue to play as they have been doing, we will be one of the two clubs going through to represent London and the South-East in the netball club finals in April.”
