Derby County defender in the mix as a Lions loan target

Derby County defender Jason Shackell has emerged as a loan option for Millwall.

The Lions are looking to add to their centre-back options with Byron Webster set to miss the rest of the campaign with a serious knee injury.

Stevenage-born Shackell is hugely experienced but has not made a Championship appearance for the Rams. His two outings in the current campaign have both come in the League Cup.

The 34-year-old has played 141 times for Norwich City, 136 matches for Burnley and 113 for the Rams, who he joined for a second spell in July 2015.

Shackell had been sidelined with a long-standing back injury but has also clocked up eight appearances for Derby’s under-23 team this season.
