Former Charlton coach Hayes makes Crystal Palace switch

Former Charlton Athletic first-team coach Anthony Hayes is the new assistant manager of Crystal Palace’s U21 side.

The Irishman left his role with the Addicks in October 2023.

Hayes had been promoted through the academy set up at Charlton and was part of Ben Garner’s first-team staff.

He also had a brief spell in caretaker charge of the senior side in 2022 before Michael Appleton was appointed.

Hayes also had a stint as assistant boss at Gillingham, taking on that role in June of this year.

He had five years with Brentford’s academy set-up before initially becoming lead PDP coach at Charlton in July 2019.
