Former Crystal Palace youngster joins Dulwich Hamlet

Former Crystal Palace youngster Jerome Binnom-Williams has joined Dulwich Hamlet on a free transfer.

The defender was a free agent after leaving Maidstone United following their relegation to the National League South,

Binnom-Williams came through Palace’s academy and made his first team debut in the 2-1 EFL Cup second round defeat to Bristol City in 2013.

The left-back, who can also play as a centre-back, made his second and final professional appearance for the Eagles a year later in the same competition, playing 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Walsall under Keith Millen.

Binnom-Williams, 28, played under Dulwich boss Hakan Hayrettin at Maidstone, featuring regularly in the side that won promotion to the National League in the 2021-22 season.

Dulwich are aiming for instant promotion after suffering relegation to the Isthmian League Premier Division.

“It’s great to be here,” said Binnom-Williams, who has also had spells at Barnet, Peterborough and Burton during his career.

“In the past, I have played here, and know that the fanbase is big, and on a Saturday they get behind their side. I’m now just excited to get going in front of them. You look higher in the pyramid, and there are many clubs that don’t have this sort of support.

“They’ve also given me some great stick in previous games which I enjoyed, so I’m looking forward to having them behind me now.

“Hak and Terry gave me an opportunity at Maidstone when I was really unfit, and helped turn me into a National League South winner, so I am respectful to them. As soon as they called me up, I wanted to play for them again, knowing how much I enjoyed it last time.”
