Former Wimbledon defender has contract option triggered following Championship relegation

Nesta Guinness-Walker has had his contract option triggered by Reading following the club’s relegation to League One.

The Royals announced in their retained list that the option to extend the left-back’s stay at Select Car Leasing Stadium has been triggered, which sees Guinness-Walker commit until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Former Metropolitan Police defender Guinness-Walker made 97 appearances during his time at Plough Lane, scoring three goals and recording five assists.  He left Wimbledon last summer as a free agent but was offered a new deal by the South Londoners.

Ex-Spurs and Chelsea youngster Guinness-Walker has featured 30 times in all competitions at Reading as they were relegated to League One.

Head of football operations at Reading is former Wimbledon boss Mark Bowen.

Ex-Watford boss Chris Wilder and Notts County manager Luke Williams have been linked to the vacant managerial role at the Royals in recent weeks.
