Karlan Grant makes £15m move to West Brom – and Charlton will get a cut of the transfer fee

Karlan Grant has made a £15million move from Huddersfield Town to West Bromwich Albion – with former club Charlton Athletic getting a cut of the fee.

The 23-year-old striker has signed a six-year contract with the Premier League outfit.

Grant scored 19 times for Town last season in the Championship.

He was sold by Charlton in January 2019 for a fee reported at the time as £2m.

But the South Londoners also had a sell-on in that deal which is believed to be 20 per cent of any profit on what they sold him for.

West Brom’s technical & sporting director Luke Dowling said: “We have followed Karlan’s progression for a long time and he has been a target of ours since well before the summer transfer window opened.

“We are confident we have signed a young player who has proved he is ready for the challenges of the Premier League. He has scored goals throughout his career including the few months he had with Huddersfield at this level two years ago.

“During this window we have largely focussed on bringing in talented, young players, who have all committed to the club with lengthy contracts, and Karlan is one we are particularly delighted to have here for the foreseeable future.”
