‘Knew we would make it’ – Andy Woodman reacts as Bromley secure National League play-off spot

Bromley boss Andy Woodman admitted he knew that his side would make the National League play-offs this season.

The Ravens have secured their place in the top seven before the end of the season after a 2-0 win against play-off rivals Chesterfield on Saturday at Hayes Lane, with a goal from Billy Bingham and an own goal from Ash Palmer giving Woodman’s side all three points.

Bromley – who are the current FA Trophy winners after beating Wrexham at Wembley last season – reached the play-offs in Woodman’s first season in charge but were knocked out following a 3-2 defeat to Hartlepool United.

“I’m extremely proud,” Woodman told Bromley’s YouTube channel.

“I’m proud of the players, the staff and my immediate staff.

“No one lost focus or belief. As a leader, you have to make sure everyone believes in what you’re telling them, and they believed and trusted when certain people didn’t.

“That’s human nature, but I knew we would make it.

“I’m not being blase. I said it all the time. You get a feel for players and a group, and these players aren’t done yet.

“I’m really proud for them that they have ticked off the first stage. We had a meeting at the beginning of the season where I told them about this year and what we’re going to do in this month.

“And I can say that now because we have got in. Stage one is done. I’m proud of this club – I love it.

“I want it to get to where I think it can get to, which is league football.

“Every time where I have a big game here and I need the fans to come out and get behind the team, they never let me down.

“The numbers here today and the noise – I just want them to keep coming to get behind the boys.

“I owe them a big gratitude for what they have done today. They got behind my team and they haven’t let them down.

“It was fantastic.”
