League One side snap up Welling United free agent

Crawley Town have signed midfielder free agent Antony Papadopoulos after he left Welling United.

The Wings announced that they were in discussions with Papadopoulos over a new deal at Park View Road.

But Papadopoulos has signed a two-year deal with the League Two play-off winners from last season and will play EFL football again.

The versatile midfielder netted his first senior hat-trick for Welling last season – the 3-2 FA Cup win over Dartford.

Ex-Leyton Orient youngster Papadopoulos has been with the Wings for the past two seasons.

Papadopoulos told Crawley’s website: “I am delighted to get this deal over the line. It has been in the works for a while, so to finally get the deal done is a great feeling and I can’t wait to get started.

“I feel like I really came into my own last season, and I had a lot of appearances, and it has always been my ambition to get back into the EFL, so I am really happy to be here as it is an exciting time for the club, and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
