Lions make it five unbeaten in the Championship – but entertainment lacking in stalemate at Birmingham

Millwall’s winless run stretched to six games after a dull 0-0 draw at Birmingham.

There could be few complaints at the stalemate, with neither side really doing enough to force a win as the Lions drew their fifth game on the bounce.

Millwall had the majority of the play early on in the Midlands, but chances were at a premium in a dire first half.

Both sides had just the one opportunity apiece to stew over at the interval.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson showed some bright touches inside the opening 20 minutes, and his intelligent low ball across the box for Troy Parrott should have been the Millwall opener. A vital touch from Harlee Dean made sure that wasn’t the case.

Lukas Jutkiewicz should have done better with the game’s golden chance though on the stroke of half time. He could only manage to head Maxime Colin’s excellent delivery well over from a couple of yards out after losing Shaun Hutchinson in the middle.

The Lions have a reputation for their prowess from set pieces, but Bodvarsson should have done better with a near-post header early in the second half after getting in front of his man from a Jed Wallace corner.

Kristian Pedersen wasted an even better chance for the hosts on the hour, heading over from six yards.

Despite not having much to live up to, the second half proved to be just as uneventful as the first. Both sides struggled to create anything of note in a match low on quality.

Murray Wallace almost stole the points for the visitors at the death, but his innovative acrobatic effort was pushed over by Neil Etheridge to deny Millwall.
