Oliver Glasner asked about late goal concerns as Luton secure last-gasp equaliser against Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner says his Crystal Palace side need to analyse why they became passive in the final moment of the game as Luton secured a last-minute equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

It was the 21st time the Eagles have conceded in the final 15 minutes of a Premier League outing, with Cauley Woodrow scoring in the 95th minute after meeting Andros Townsend’s cross into the penalty area.

Palace took the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta but were unable to kill the game off.

When asked about stopping the conceding the pattern of late goals, Glasner said: “I have talked too much about it.

“It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

“When you drive your car, you’re always afraid of having an accident, or if you go down the stairs and you’re afraid you will fall down, it will happen.

“We will analyse why we were passive in this situation.

“But if the same situation happened after 30 minutes, it would have also been a goal.

“Then we don’t talk about late goals but a goal we conceded.

“It was our mistake in this situation that we didn’t push more pressure on the ball.

“It’s not important if it’s 96, 92 or in the first minute.”

The Eagles had 20 efforts as Thomas Kamkinski’s goal after Mateta’s opener.

“We were dangerous in every part of the game,” said Glasner.

“In the first half, we were very dangerous in set plays. The players did very well.

“In the second half, we had Tyrick in front of the keeper. We had JP with the header. We had Ama [Ahamada] with the shot.

“We had Eddie with the shot – a great situation for him.

“We had Ebs with the 50-yard [shot]. We had opportunities, but the keeper was also great for Luton.

“It’s a draw instead of a win. But I’m really looking forward to the next three weeks. I see the first three games and see us step by step improving – the players know more and more how we want to play and what we want to do.

“Sometimes we’re not in the best position again but it’s normal – it’s a process.

“I can’t remember a game where we had so many opportunities like today.”
