‘Over the moon’ – Matty Stevens pens new two year contract with AFC Wimbledon
Matty Stevens has signed a new two-year contract with AFC Wimbledon to extend his Plough Lane stay.
Stevens joined in the summer as a free agent from Forest Green and has netted 21 times in all competitions for the Dons this season.
He has 17 League Two goals this season – four behind top scorer Michael Cheek – and has fired Johnnie Jackson’s side towards the top end of the table all season.
Stevens still had a season to go on his original Wimbledon deal but has been rewarded for his fine form.
“I’m over the moon. I’ve always said since I got here that I’ve really enjoyed it and I think this extension underlines that,” he told the club.
“The main thing now is to focus on matters on the pitch. Myself and my family are delighted to get this agreement done.
“The fans, staff and players have made me feel so comfortable here – they all played a big role in my decision. Now we have to come together to get us over the line and back into League One.”
