Positive news for Millwall as Troy Parrott makes playing return in Republic of Ireland U21 defeat

Troy Parrott made his playing return for Republic of Ireland U21s today – the Millwall loanee’s first competitive minutes since September 23.

The Tottenham Hotspur man damaged ankle ligaments on his Lions’ debut against Burnley in the EFL Cup.

But Parrott had resumed full training just before the international break and was included in Ireland’s squad for their UEFA Euro qualifiers. He came on at the start of the second half in their 2-1 defeat to Iceland in Dublin.

Vladimar Thor Ingimundarson struck a 93rd-minute clincher.

The result at Tallaght Stadium sees the victors move above their hosts in the Group A table with only one fixture left to play.
Ireland play that on Wednesday afternoon as they go to Luxembourg, who prop up the table.

Parrott has clocked up just 45 minutes for Millwall as he suffered a quad injury in pre-season and then had a different setback on his Den bow.

There are still high hopes that the 18-year-old forward can add extra cutting edge for the South London club, who also have West Brom loanee Kenneth Zohore (calf) unavailable until at least late 2020.
