Rotherham United 0 Millwall 1 – Jed Wallace goal earns Lions first Championship win of the season

Millwall claimed their first win of the Championship season with a 1-0 victory over Rotherham United at The New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
A tough opening 45 minutes saw the Lions dominated by their hosts but a first goal for Jed Wallace since January 28 sealed the result.
Gary Rowett made three changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Stoke City on the opening day of the season as Mahlon Romeo, Ryan Woods and Tom Bradshaw came into his starting 11.
The Millers went close on 16 minutes – Alex Pearce forced to clear a dangerous corner off the line.
Rotherham’s best chance of the first half came when Chiedozie Ogbene avoided the challenge of Scott Malone and cutback for Ladapo, who put his effort wide of the post.
Millwall responded with a chance of their own. Mason Bennett was fouled by Michael Ihiekwe and Scott Malone curled the resulting free-kick over the bar.
Rotherham were punished for their wastefulness five minutes into the second half. The ball bounced awkwardly in the
Rotherham defence and Millers skipper Ihiekwe judged the bounce wrong allowing Jed Wallace to race through, round Jamal Blackman and tap into an empty net.
The hosts’ first effort of the second half came on 64 minutes. Jamie Lindsay forcing Bart Bialkowski into action, the Millwall number one had to be alert again four minutes later to keep out Joe Mattock’s volley.
Paul Warne’s side threw everything at Millwall in the closing stages but were unable to find a way past the Lions’ resolute defence.
