Shaw leaves Eagles to pursue other opportunities
Palace legend Richard Shaw who also captained Millwall – and turned Aaron Wan-Bissaka into a full-back – has left his job as under-23 coach at Selhurst Park.
The former centre-back, pictured above, has been a coach at Palace since 2013, after leaving The Den where he was a coach under Kenny Jackett.
Shaw, who played more than 200 times for the Eagles 1986-95 and another 65 for Millwall, had also been the Selhurst under-16 head coach.
Shaw coached Aaron Wan-Bissaka from the age of 15, during which time he made the transition from a winger to a right-back, before his rise to the first team.
Shaw steered Palace’s U23 side to the Professional Development League Two (South) title in 2018.
Palace said: “Richard Shaw is leaving Crystal Palace to pursue other opportunities.
“The club would like to thank Richard for his contribution and wish him every success in his future career.”
Shaw said: “I’ve enjoyed my time at Palace but now it’s time to explore other exciting coaching opportunities.”
