Surrey CCC round-up: New deals for duo and a County Championship first

Surrey’s current four-day match against Yorkshire at Scarborough has become the first County Championship fixture to be live streamed on the internet using more than two cameras.
The ground-breaking partnership has been made possible by broadcaster Sky Sports, who own the rights to broadcast all cricket played in England, giving special permission for the one-off broadcast to go ahead.
As well as the official Surrey and Yorkshire websites, the game is also being broadcast online by Sky Sports Digital and the ECB.
So far this summer, every Surrey CCC home game has been streamed on the club’s website, kiaoval.com, using two fixed cameras (one at each end of the ground). Across the 15 days of domestic cricket so far, well over 2,000,000 minutes have already been watched.
Surrey CCC chief executive Richard Gould said: “It’s tremendously exciting to be able to work alongside Yorkshire and the ECB to put on a first in English domestic cricket.”

Surrey’s second team moved up to second in the South Division of the Second Eleven County Championship following a thumping 314-run victory over Sussex at New Malden.
Chris Green (155) and Nick Welch (149) set the tone as Surrey made 428. Sussex countered with 245, but when set 396 to win crumbled to 81 all out with the fit again Matt Dunn taking 7-31 for the hosts.

Injury update – Seam bowlers Tom Curran (side strain), Conor McKerr (side strain) and Stuart Meaker (rib) currently make up Surrey’s walking wounded.

Fast bowler Matt Dunn and spinner Freddie van den Bergh – both of whom are 26 and graduates of the Surrey academy – have signed contract extensions.
Dunn has penned a deal for the next two years with Van den Bergh’s extension keeping him at the Oval until the end of 2019.
Matt Dunn said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to continue my career at Surrey County Cricket Club and I am very excited to see what the next two years hold in store for myself as a player and the club.”
Van den Bergh added: “I am absolutely delighted to have signed a contract extension with Surrey. With the exciting squad we have here, I am very much looking forward to play my part in moving this great club forward – which can hopefully win some silverware soon.”
