Wawrinka through to third round after win over Etcheverry

Etcheverry v Wawrinka 3-6/6-4/4-6/2-6
Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka is into the third round after a grilling four sets victory over number 29 seed Tomas Etcheverry.
The unseeded veteran, ranked 88th in the world, saw off a spirited but ultimately flawed Argentinian.
Too many unforced errors, particularly on his backhand slice, were sufficient to see Wawrinka take the first set 6-3. A single drop in serve ensured his opponent snatched the second while Wawrinka edged the third set by a similar score of 6-4.
A match-winning double break in the fourth saw the former quarter-finalist at the Championship serve for the match, which he duly did after two hours and 33 minutes of excellent grass court tennis.
