‘We were rewarded’ – Oliver Glasner praises Crystal Palace side for not giving up in Fulham draw

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner praised his side for not giving up and believed they fully deserved a point in their 1-1 draw at Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Fulham took the lead in the 51st minute when the Eagles failed to clear their lines and Timothy Castagne crossed perfectly for Rodrigo Muniz to head past Dean Henderson.

The Eagles pulled a goal back late on when substitute Jeffrey Schlupp took aim from distance and rifled a shot into the top left-hand corner of Bernd Leno’s goal.

Glasner’s side are now four unbeaten in the Premier League after wins on the bounce against Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle.

“It was a fully deserved point,” said Glasner.

“It was an excellent start with a lot of pressure – Fulham didn’t come out of their half.

“We had the chance to take the lead, but we missed the chances, and it was a little bit more open – suddenly we were 1-0 down.

“With the third game in six days, the legs were tired and maybe the mind was a little bit tired.

“I have seen many teams give up and lose the game. But this group – these players – they came back again and never gave up.

“We had a great energy at the end. All the substitutes brought a new energy at the end of a very tough week for us.

“We were rewarded with an amazing goal from Jeffrey.

“I’m really pleased with the performance and the willingness to get the point. I really appreciate the effort not to lose here and like to see that the players didn’t want to lose.

“We all felt that they didn’t deserve to lose. They got the reward and I’m really pleased with the performance.”
