Women’s football round-up: Quadruple dream still alive for Chelsea – Millwall Lionesses defeated

Chelsea’s chances of completing the quadruple are still on track after Aggie Beever-Jones scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner in their 2-1 FA Cup semi-final win over Liverpool on Saturday.
The Blues went behind when Olivia Smith netted after 21 minutes, with the Reds looking to book their first final in the competition since 1996. Erin Cuthbert brought the west Londoners level before the end of the first half after she lobbed Rachel Laws from inside the box with a smart finish.
England international Beever-Jones scored in the 94th minute at Kingsmeadow when she headed Sandy Baltimore’s cross beyond Laws to prevent the game heading into extra time.
“I’ve never actually played at Wembley, I’ve been on the bench a few times,” said Beever-Jones. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play at Wembley.
“For us, we’re going for as many trophies as possible this year and now that we’re in the final, obviously it’s another step forward to where we want to get to.”
Sonia Bompastor’s Chelsea have already won the Women’s League Cup and are six points clear at the top of the Super League.
They take on Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup and face Spanish giants Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
“They fought really hard and gave everything they had in their legs,” said Bompastor. “Sometimes we could have played a little bit better, but they brought all the energy on the pitch and that is what I expect. Sometimes, as players, you try so hard that you make mistakes and that’s fine – they are human.
“I will always support them when they make mistakes because I know they have the right mentality.”
AFC Wimbledon drew in their penultimate game of their first season in the National League Southern Division. A goal from Ashlee Hincks and a 93rd-minute strike from Kelly-Jade Whelan gave the Dons a point against relegation-threatened Plymouth.
Kevin Foster’s side play Billericay Town in the final game of the season.
Millwall Lionesses suffered a 2-0 loss to Ebbsfleet.
Ted Jones’ side host Ashford United in the final game of the season and are set to finish middle of the pack in the London & South East Regional National League.
