Boreham Wood prospect Sorba Thomas looks to the future after failed approach from Charlton Athletic during transfer window

Boreham Wood’s Sorba Thomas says his focus remains on securing promotion to the EFL for now, after he was the subject of a failed transfer bid from Charlton Athletic during October.
The Addicks laid a bid for the 21-year-old near the end of the belated summer transfer window. The offer was believed to be a six-figure sum but the National League side said that the amount was “a bit short of our valuation.”
The Wood have since placed Thomas on the transfer list to test the market ahead of the January window.
The attacker, who opened the scoring with a sparkling strike in the early exchanges of the 1-1 draw at Bromley on Tuesday evening, said he was made aware of the interest from the Addicks during the window.
He told the South London Press: “I have a relationship with the gaffer, with the chairman and they did let me know. We had a little conversation but like I said, I’m a Boreham Wood player until I’m told that I’m not. I’ll put 100 percent into the games for the team and get the boys to where they should be – in the football league. That’s our aspirations for this year. We’re still on course. Let’s see what happens.
“I’ve been at Boreham Wood for six years. I did my college there. I’ve done a lot of growing. I’ve been with the gaffer for so many years now. In an ideal world I’d love to [get to the football league] with Boreham Wood. Whatever the future does hold for me, for the club. I want to do it with Boreham Wood, that’s what I want to do. But no one knows what the future holds, we’ll have to see what happens.
“I had a conversation with the gaffer, I had a conversation with the chairman. I’m happy where I am at the moment. I’m happy where I am with my football. I love my teammates. I’ll do everything I can to put 100 percent into every game I play for the club and hopefully we’ll get promotion this year.
“I’m here for the team. I’m literally playing week in, week out and putting in 100 percent for the team. Whatever happens on the outside, that’s a conversation I have to have with the gaffer and the chairman. Other than that, my head is still on my football. I’m a Boreham Wood player and I’ll always be a Boreham Wood player until I’m told not to. Like I said, I’ll put 100 percent into the pitch, play for my team and who knows what can happen in the future.”
