Two men have been arrested after the fatal shooting of a man in his 20s in Brixton.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a second man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A man in his 20s was injure following a shooting in the area of Belinda Road in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Just before 6.30am on Thursday, 21 October, police after the man was admitted suffering gunshot injuries.

He died later that afternoon and formal identification is yet to take place.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

It is believed that the man sustained his injuries following the shooting shortly after 6am.

DCI Mark Rogers, said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area of Belinda Road to please come forward and speak with us.

“Any piece of information could be vital in helping us to identify those responsible for taking a young man’s life.”

Additional officers will be patrolling in and around the area and anyone with concerns is asked to speak to them.
