17-year-old has been jailed for life for the murder of 18 year Aron Warren in Greenwich

A 17-year-old has been jailed for life after he stabbed a man at his home in Greenwich.

Kamari Gordon, of Brookdene Road, Greenwich was sentenced to 17 years for the murder of 18-year-old Aron Warren in December last year.

Lorraine Donovan, Aron’s mum, said: “I’d like to express my appreciation to the judge, the barristers and to all the court for the respect they have given to my son.

“Also the police team; they have recognised Aron as a person and not just a case, and for that I am very grateful.

“As a mother you would never expect to be burying your son, let alone, standing in a court talking about his life.

“Aron had a good heart and I’d often say to him when he was going out with his friends, don’t be foolish with your money.

“He would say, “Ma, I can’t leave one person out just because they didn’t have any money.

“That’s the type of person Aron was. He would never want to see anyone without.

“The future was so bright for him, he had the world at his feet and it was just taken away from him and me.”

On December 8, 2018 Gordon stabbed Aron twice at his home in Prior Street before stealing items from his home, including two knives and a Rolex watch.

Witnesses identified Gordon, who was 16 at the time of the murder, as being outside the Aron’s third storey flat at least five minutes before the murder took place.

Gordon was seen acting aggressively by showing off a large knife – later established as being used to murder Aron – and threatening that he was going to “see Irish,” referring to aron’s Irish descent.

Emergency services were called at around 9.40pm but Aron was pronounced dead at the scene 40 minutes later.

Police found a photo on Gordon’s iPad of him posing with the watch belonging to Aron, taken five hours after the murder.

Detective inspector Brett Hagen said: “Gordon is a violent individual who committed this murder at the age of just 16.

“He will now have a long time to reflect on his actions that day and I hope this sentence brings some form of closure to Aron’s family.”
