A children’s reading charity is looking for volunteers to join their Lambeth project.

With one in four 11 year olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, Doorstep Library aims to bring children the joy of reading.

Volunteers work in pairs visiting families in their homes weekly and read and share books with children up to 11 years old.

They will use books to fuel children’s natural love of stories, fire their imaginations, and encourage their appreciation of reading.

They will also help parents take part in the reading sessions and offer signposting to other organisations for family support.

The ultimate goal of the projects is to help children develop the self-confidence and essential skills they need to access all the opportunities that will come their way in life.

Everyone at the South London Press thanks you for your continued support.

Former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has encouraged everyone in the country who can afford to do so to buy a newspaper, and told the Downing Street press briefing:

“A FREE COUNTRY NEEDS A FREE PRESS, AND THE NEWSPAPERS OF OUR COUNTRY ARE UNDER SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL PRESSURE”

If you can afford to do so, we would be so grateful if you can make a donation which will allow us to continue to bring stories to you, both in print and online. Or please make cheques payable to “MSI Media Limited” and send by post to South London Press, Unit 112, 160 Bromley Road, Catford, London SE6 2NZ
