Vaccination centre in Bromley celebrates 150,000th jab
Staff at a vaccination centre in Bromley have administered their 150,000th Covid-19 jab after being set up in March last year.
Claire Champion, Vaccination Programme Director at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), congratulated staff at the Bromley Civic Centre, which she called a “beacon of hope for the local community”.
She said said: “The Civic Centre staff has played a vital role in the fight against Covid-19 and to have administered 150,000 vaccines is an exceptional achievement.
“It’s been an honour and privilege to have worked with my fellow NHS colleagues and volunteers to deliver the vaccine to people from Bromley and beyond.
“In the most unusual and unprecedented times, the Civic Centre has become a beacon of hope for our local community who want to return to the life they once knew and protect their loved ones.”
She added: “On behalf of Team King’s, I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers who have made the 150,000th vaccine – and all the doses in between – possible.”
Bromley resident Terence Reeves received his booster shot at the centre on December 8, 2021, a year after the vaccine programme was first launched.
He said: “Getting my booster jab on the anniversary day at the Bromley Civic Centre was incredibly special.
“I will always remember the moment I helped protect myself, my family and the general public, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.”
